Desa Damai Cafe 和平村茶室 sits quietly in Kampung Kemunting, Bintulu, offering a straightforward local kopitiam experience with an emphasis on affordability and familiar flavors. This is the kind of place where the everyday rhythms of Sarawak life unfold—a spot favored for late-night suppers and budget-friendly meals.

The café is best known for its kampua noodles, a Sarawak specialty that's hard to find at the prices Desa Damai maintains. Though prices have crept up from RM2 to RM3 in recent times, the meals remain among the most economical in Bintulu. Whether you prefer your kampua dry, with soy sauce or soup, or fried versions, the menu covers it with simple, unpretentious dishes. Alongside the noodles, items like laksa, mee goreng, and bubur ayam round out the selection, reflecting the no-frills, everyday comfort food that locals come for.

Atmosphere-wise, the place is typical of a local kopitiam—casual and straightforward without much fuss. Cleanliness is generally adequate but noted by some to have room for improvement. The vibe suits those looking for a quick, affordable bite rather than a leisurely café hangout. The owner’s friendly nature adds a welcoming local touch, and the presence of a nearby Malay stall and a cake van parked outside provides extra variety and a bustling neighborhood feel.

This café operates late into the night, making it a practical spot for supper or a post-evening snack. It's frequented by locals who appreciate the combination of good value, familiar noodles, and a reliably down-to-earth setting rather than trendiness or gourmet flair. If you’re in the area after hours or hunting for wallet-friendly Sarawak staples, Desa Damai Cafe offers a slice of local life served simply on a plate.

Cheapest Kampua in the town or maybe the whole Sarawak. RM 2 per plate included with meat. Can order for white kampua, black kampua, wantan kicap, wantan soup. All only RM2. Got Kampua Goreng, Mee Goreng Kering, Mee Goreng Basah ect... with very cheap price also. Open until very late. If u wish to have a supper after 10pm, here is it. Tapao RM10 Mee Goreng Basah enough for 4 persons.

Famous for its Rm2 Kampua (dry noodle), due to the rise of goods price they have increased the price to Rm3 but still the cheapest in town (as on March 2023). Their Milo peng still maintains its extra 'kaw' although price also increased to Rm3. Different type of kampua taste but acceptable. Can also try their stir fry kampua also good.

Not much choice but the kampua is only rm2, Malay stall just by the side of the shop and there is a van parked in front of the shop selling varieties of buns and cake. The owner is a very friendly and kind person. Really nice to meet him and definitely will visit again this shop.
